What is a “bacaro”? It is a typical Venetian hostaria or tavern, usually located in the back streets of Venice where friends meet up to enjoy a glass of wine while sharing “cicchetti” (small plates of food) and simple Italian dishes.
So here we are Il Bacaro tucked away in a back street of China Town but why not enjoy a little Venetian treat while in Penang?
Although Penang offers great street food, IL Bacaro is a wonderful alternative with its ever changing Chef Special’s using fresh local ingredients such as fish and vegetables but keeping true to the traditional Italian flavours produced by head Chef Mauro, Chef Marko and Roberto’s brother Chef Mario. IL Bacaro is a cosy restaurant housed on the ground floor of Campbell House, with up to 50 seats and open daily for breakfast, lunch, dinner or small plates such as their signature cicchetti great for sharing with a glass of wine.
